Transaction reconciliation

Crypto transaction reconciliation services for broken or incomplete books.

When source records no longer tie together, adding another software export rarely solves the underlying problem. We build a controlled source inventory, trace material movement, investigate exceptions, and prepare a documented path to reliable books.

Discuss your needs

When to call

A practical fit for moments when the records must support a decision.

Historical cleanup

Months or years of activity were imported inconsistently, recorded only in tax software, or never connected to the general ledger.

Multi-source breaks

Balances differ across wallets, exchanges, custodians, subledgers, spreadsheets, and the accounting system.

A deadline is approaching

Tax preparation, an audit, fundraising, diligence, or a finance-system migration depends on records that are not yet reliable.

Potential deliverables

A scope built around usable work products.

Depending on the available records, stakeholders, and agreed level of review, an engagement may include:

  • Entity, account, wallet, exchange, custodian, and source-file inventory
  • Coverage assessment for missing periods, opening balances, and incomplete exports
  • Transfer-matching and duplicate-resolution schedules
  • Reconciled balances and activity for the agreed sources and periods
  • Open-items register for missing basis, ownership, classification, or valuation support
  • Cleanup summary and recommended path into ongoing bookkeeping or professional review

How we help

A disciplined approach to digital asset complexity.

01

Source completeness

Map the available wallets, exchanges, custodians, entities, ledgers, and time periods—and identify what is missing.

02

Transfer and balance matching

Trace movement across controlled accounts, investigate duplicates and gaps, and distinguish internal transfers from external activity.

03

Exception resolution

Create a reviewable record of unresolved basis, ownership, classification, valuation, and counterparty questions.

Engagement process

From source records to a documented operating path.

01

Scope the break

Agree on the entities, sources, periods, materiality, deadline, and intended use of the cleaned records.

02

Inventory and preserve

Retain original exports, document source coverage, and avoid overwriting the evidence used for the review.

03

Match and investigate

Trace controlled-account transfers, compare balances, surface duplicates and gaps, and document exceptions.

04

Deliver the bridge forward

Provide the agreed schedules, open questions, and operating recommendations so the next close starts from a stronger foundation.

Common questions

Define the scope before the work begins.

How is reconciliation cleanup different from crypto bookkeeping?

Cleanup is a defined project focused on repairing historical source coverage, balances, transfers, and classifications. Ongoing bookkeeping begins once the opening position and recurring close process are reliable enough to maintain.

Can you guarantee that every transaction will be resolved?

No. Resolution depends on the records and facts available. The engagement is designed to resolve supported items and clearly document what remains missing, uncertain, or dependent on management or another professional.

Will you need access to private keys or signing authority?

No. Bit Bookkeeper does not request private keys, seed phrases, passwords, or authority to sign transactions. Source records and view-only information are handled through the process defined for the engagement.

Can the final schedules support tax, audit, or diligence work?

They can be prepared to support those workflows, but the exact format, level of review, and reliance requirements should be agreed with the tax preparer, auditor, administrator, investor, or other stakeholder.
