Digital asset funds

Crypto fund accounting support for digital asset investment strategies.

Funds need disciplined records across venues, wallets, strategies, counterparties, and service providers. We help organize the underlying activity for reporting and professional review.

Discuss your needs

When to call

A practical fit for moments when the records must support a decision.

Positions do not tie across venues

Fund records span custodians, exchanges, self-custodied wallets, protocols, fiat accounts, and internal schedules that do not reconcile cleanly.

Service-provider handoffs are inefficient

Administrators, auditors, tax professionals, and investment teams receive inconsistent exports, undocumented adjustments, or unresolved transaction questions.

A reporting or diligence deadline is approaching

The manager needs clearer source coverage, transaction support, and open-item ownership before tax, audit, investor, or counterparty review.

Potential deliverables

A scope built around usable work products.

Depending on the available records, stakeholders, and agreed level of review, an engagement may include:

  • Fund, entity, account, wallet, exchange, custodian, protocol, and source-file inventory within scope
  • Transaction schedules covering trades, transfers, income, fees, and other agreed digital asset activity
  • Position, balance, and activity reconciliations for the agreed sources and periods
  • Open-items register for missing basis, ownership, valuation, classification, counterparty, or source support
  • Accounting workpapers and data handoff in the format agreed with the fund’s administrator, auditor, or tax professional
  • Management reporting or operating recommendations when expressly included in the engagement

How we help

A disciplined approach to digital asset complexity.

01

Position support

Organize holdings and activity across custodial and self-custodied environments.

02

Transaction context

Classify transfers, trades, income, fees, and complex on-chain events.

03

Service-provider coordination

Create better source material for administrators, tax teams, auditors, and investors.

Engagement process

From source records to a documented operating path.

01

Align with the reporting ecosystem

Define the fund structure, strategies, service providers, reporting calendar, source systems, materiality, and intended use of the work.

02

Establish source coverage

Inventory authorized records across controlled accounts and surface missing periods, opening positions, inaccessible sources, and unexplained differences.

03

Reconcile and document

Trace material activity, compare positions and balances, retain evidence, and separate resolved items from questions requiring management or another professional.

04

Deliver a controlled handoff

Provide the agreed schedules, methods, assumptions, exceptions, and versioned source references to the responsible stakeholders.

Common questions

Define the scope before the work begins.

Does Bit Bookkeeper replace a fund administrator?

No. The service can improve underlying accounting records, reconciliations, and handoffs, but it is not presented as transfer agency, investor allocation, official NAV, custody, audit, or regulated fund-administration work unless a separate qualified provider is explicitly responsible.

Can you support self-custodied and on-chain fund activity?

Yes, when the relevant wallets, venues, protocols, entities, periods, and source records are included in scope. Bit Bookkeeper does not request private keys, seed phrases, or transaction-signing authority.

Can the work support an audit or tax return?

The schedules can be prepared for coordination with auditors and tax professionals, but the required format, procedures, reliance limits, deadlines, and open questions should be agreed with those providers. The engagement does not itself create an audit opinion or filing conclusion.

Which fund structures are a fit?

Potential fit depends on the strategy, legal entities, investor and regulatory obligations, transaction volume, jurisdictions, systems, service-provider model, and condition of the records. An initial scope review determines whether Bit Bookkeeper should lead, support another provider, or refer the work.
